Policies for Authors

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
The RBAF is committed to upholding the integrity of the scientific record. The authors should refrain from misrepresenting research results which could damage the trust in the journal, the professionalism of scientific authorship, and ultimately the entire scientific endeavour.

A few key points should be taken into account by authors:

  • The manuscript you submit to this journal should be original. This means it should not have been published before in its current, or similar, form, unless the new work concerns an expansion of previous work.
  • The manuscript should not have been submitted elsewhere and should not be under consideration by any other publication.
  • The results should be presented clearly, honestly, and without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation.
  • By submitting your work, you are guaranteeing that the work is not in infringement of any existing copyright.

Compliance with Ethical Standards
Our editors and employees work hard to ensure the content we publish is ethically sound. To help us achieve that goal, research involving human participants, human material, or human data, must have been approved by an appropriate ethics committee. A statement detailing this, including the name of the ethics committee and the reference number must appear in the manuscript. If a study has been granted an exemption from requiring ethics approval, this should also be detailed in the manuscript, including the name of the ethics committee that granted the exemption.

Conflicts of Interest
Authors are requested to disclose interests that are directly or indirectly related to the work submitted for publication. Disclosure of interests provides a complete and transparent process and helps readers form their own judgments of potential bias. This is not meant to imply that a financial relationship with an organisation that sponsored the research or compensation received for consultancy work is inappropriate.

Authorship principles
All authors whose names appear on the submission

  • made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the creation of new software used in the work;
  • drafted the work or revised it critically for important intellectual content;
  • approved the version to be published; and
  • agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Changes to authorship
Authors are strongly advised to ensure the correct author group, the Corresponding Author, and the order of authors at submission. Changes of authorship by adding or deleting authors, and/or changes in Corresponding Author, and/or changes in the sequence of authors are not accepted after acceptance of a manuscript.

In addition, adding and/or deleting authors at revision stage are generally not permitted, but in some cases it may be warranted. Reasons for these changes in authorship should be explained. Approval of the change during revision is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.
So, please make sure that the names of all authors are present and correctly spelled, and that addresses and affiliations are current.

Policies for Editors

Fair play and editorial independence
Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit (importance, originality, study’s validity, clarity) and its relevance to the journal’s scope, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, citizenship, religious belief, political philosophy or institutional affiliation.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party. We could say editors and editorial staff will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Editors and editorial board members will not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research purposes without the authors’ explicit written consent. Privileged information or ideas obtained by editors as a result of handling the manuscript will be kept confidential and not used for their personal advantage.

Publication decisions
The editors ensure that all submitted manuscripts being considered for publication undergo peer-review by at least two reviewers who are expert in the field. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which of the manuscripts submitted to the journal will be published, based on the validation of the work in question, its importance to researchers and readers, the reviewers’ comments, and such legal requirements as are currently in force regarding copyright infringement and plagiarism. The Editor-in-Chief may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Policies for Reviewers

Contribution to editorial decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with authors, may assist authors in improving their manuscripts. Peer review is an essential component of formal scholarly communication and lies at the heart of scientific endeavour.

Any manuscripts received for review are confidential documents and must be treated as such; they must not be shown to or discussed with others except if authorized by the Editor-in-Chief (who would only do so under exceptional and specific circumstances). This applies also to invited reviewers who decline the review invitation.

Standards of objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and observations formulated clearly with supporting arguments so that authors can use them for improving the manuscript. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Any invited referee who has conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or institutions connected to the manuscript and the work described therein should immediately notify the editors to declare their conflicts of interest and decline the invitation to review so that alternative reviewers can be contacted. Unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the express written consent of the authors.

Withdrawal of an article

An article or chapter may only be removed from a publisher’s database if it:
• Infringes professional ethical codes such as the violation of the privacy of a research subject.
• Is subject to legal dispute.
• Includes the identification of false or inaccurate data
